Welcome to my website
I am a profesional astronomer with a background in physics.
I work at Instituto de Fisica y Astronomia (IFA) of the University of Valparaiso (UV), where my time is split between research, teaching, and outreach.
Although I'm interested in a broad range of topics, the bulk of my research focuses on understanding the formation and evolution of galaxies as a function of cosmic time and environment. In particular, most of my recent work has been dedicated to understand the physical processes removing gas from galaxies in clusters. You can see my research, publications, and project pages for details.
Before joining IFA, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at ESO-Santiago (with duties as support astronomer for UT4 Very Large Telescope, and MUSE in Paranal), the University of Concepcion, and INAF - Astronomical Observatory of Padova. I did my PhD at the University of Nottingham and ESO-Garching, and prior to that, as an undergraduate student at Universidad Simon Bolivar, I worked at NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center, and Centro de Investigaciones de Astronomia (CIDA) (see my Bio page for more details).
