The conferences and sessions will take place in Auditorium 401 of the CIAE Building, located at Blanco 1931, Valparaíso. The building is easily accessible from the main campus and features modern facilities for academic events.
About Valparaíso
Valparaíso is a vibrant coastal city known for its rich history, colorful architecture, and UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. The weather in Valparaíso during the event is pleasant (spring season), with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 22°C. Valparaíso is generally windy, so a sweater is recommended.
Transportation
Airport - Bus station: The nearest international airport is Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL), located in Santiago, approximately 120 kilometers from Valparaíso. You can take a bus or taxi from Santiago airport to the central bus station. Buses are outside the airport and connect the airport with the central bus station in Santiago in around 10 minutes. The frequency of these buses is every 10-15 minutes approximately and costs around $2,000 CLP.
Central bus station at Santiago to Valparaíso: There are two main terminals (close to each other): Estación Central and Pajaritos. Buses leave every 15 minutes for different companies and take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Tickets can be purchased directly from the terminal or online (https://www.recorrido.cl/en ). Costs are around $5,000 CLP or less for one trip.
Private transfers from the airport to Valparaíso: Always choose an established company at the same airport or booked in advance (e.g., MR. Transfer, Valparaíso Chile-taxi transfers). The costs are around $80,000 - $120,000 CLP.
By car: If you prefer to drive (rent a car at the airport), the easiest route to Valparaíso is via Route 68, which connects Santiago with Valparaíso. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Apps such as Google Maps or Waze are suitable for route information.
Getting around Valparaíso
Public transportation in Valparaíso includes buses (micros), metro trains, trolleybuses, and taxi services. The city is also famous for its funicular elevators, which climb steep hills and offer spectacular views of the port and surrounding areas.
Accommodation
The School will cover accommodation costs for shared rooms from November 23 (check-in at 4:00 PM) to December 5 (check-out at 12:00 PM). Participants who selected the accommodation option in the application form will stay at Casa Verde Limón, a fully equipped hostel featuring a kitchen, dining room, Smart TV and cable TV in each room, towels and bed linen, free Wi-Fi, complimentary coffee and tea, laundry service (CLP$6,000), tourist information, and a hair dryer.
Breakfasts are included during the stay.
The hostel "Casa Verde Limón" is approximately 20 minutes (1,1 km) away by foot from the CIAE building (where the school will take place).
