Brown dwarfs, low-mass star formation, astrostatistics

My main research interest deals with understanding how brown dwarfs (astronomical objects with masses between those of planets and those of stars) form by comparing their observational properties with those of the higher mass siblings in the stellar nurseries. To conduct this research I naturally need to deal with large datasets and databases, so in parallel I contribute to the field of astrostatistics by improving and developing new techniques and tools in the framework of the Virtual Observatory (in particular I am the PI of VOSA).
